Alter Ego - The Songs
The CD starts with "Ballad of a Band", a story of The Tesmer Pope Band. Kind of a country flavored song with special guest Jon Tesmer on lead guitar and backing vocals.
"House on the Corner" is a haunting jazzy song co-written with brother Paul Pope inspired by "The Amittyville Horror". It features Bobby Bruno on sax.
"Golden Hair And Azure Eyes" is the story of a fair maiden and a knight in shining armor. Acoustic rock with the flavor of a Crosby, Stills and Nash. Slated to be the single from the CD.
"In A Flag 2003" is an acoustic tune that depicts the mixed emotions of a pacifist on the war in Iraq. Originally written as a Viet Nam protest song and updated. It is sure to draw emotion.
"Whatever Happened To?" Gabby Hayes and Dale and Buck and Roy? And the promise of your love? Up tempo acoustic rock featuring saxes by Tom Kovach
"Step Song" written for the wedding of his step daughter and for anyone who has ever developed a wonderful relationship with their step children. Billy Sullivan shows off his "Badfinger" inspired slide guitar.
"In The Spirit" is a reflection of Pope's Catholic upbringing. With Mike Moore on a real pipe organ, thanks to St. Mary's in Elyria, and a 23 voice choir featuring Mary Hill.
"Alma Mater" is a fun rocker about a couple of friends who get in trouble in the high school parking lot. Written and sung in the first person, but it really happened to a freind of T. Elvis.
"Every Day" Acoustic country, simple little love song. Part of the original analog recording with a digital overdub of fiddle by Tim Krugman.
"Home Again" was the first tune ever written by T. Elvis Pope. Acoustic ballad featuring, who else, Billy Sullivan on Spanish guitar.
"More Than Just Love" The original analog recording of this song has been preserved and made part of this CD. Co-written by T. Elvis and his twin brother Thos. for their brother Paul's wedding. Featuring Thos on lead vocal on verses two and three. (Not only did they look alike, they sounded alike as well!)
"Spirit Reprise" A snippet of the voices only portion of the Karaoke Choir.
Thanks for listening!
